We've seen pay scales range from $14 to $16 an hour depending on the size of the physician group or the type medical facility. Generally, the larger the physician group or the larger the facility, the higher the pay scale tends to be. We have even seen some students get $17 and up to $18.36 per hour. Good interview skills, appearance, and your resume can also affect your hiring chances.

9. If I want additional training after I complete your class, what is the next level?

The next level of training ranges from an LMRT to MRT. The time frame can be between one to four years and cost from four to twenty thousand, depending on the school. LMRT stands for Limited Radiological Technologist. This person is only authorized to perform radiological procedures on specific human body parts. These persons have a limited certificate for the State of Texas allowing them to only take (under the direction of a medical practitioner) specific body parts for which they have been formally trained. The limited categories are the skull, chest, spine, extremities, podiatric, chiropractic, and cardiovascular.

MRT stands for Medical Radiologic Technologist. This person has a degree in Radiology; either an Associates of Applied Science or a Bachelors of Science. This person is extensively trained in Radiology and has a general certificate for the State of Texas allowing them to take (under the direction of a medical practitioner) all medical radiographs in which they have been formally trained. Most are on the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) indicating they have taken a Registry Exam, allowing them to go anywhere within the U.S. and practice radiology as soon as they become certified within that state.
